Description
Hundreds Chart Cards
Relational rods are intended to be used relationally, not given a set quantity. As such, developing a clear tray was important, with the option of using cards under the tray to allow the educator to use the trays flexibly (e.g., in younger grades students might assign 1 to the white rod and therefore the numbered hundreds charts become useful, in upper grades an educator may want to use trays for Fraction Talks so blank hundreds charts are useful, etc.).
Trays
There are 3 types of Hundreds Chart Cards included; blank/customizable, top-down hundreds charts, and bottom-up hundreds charts. Top-down hundreds charts are transitional, but current research shows that bottom-up hundreds charts are effective and intuitive (Bay-Williams & Fletcher, 2007).
